In light of the harsh reports of an anti-Semitic incident in which an 8-year-old boy from the Jewish community of Stamford Hill in central London was brutally beaten by an attacker on his way home from school and now is in critical condition, and in the wake of many anti-Semitic incidents in Europe and London in particular, there will be a European conference on anti-Semitism and boycotts.
Following the events in London, Deputy Director of the World Zionist Organization and Head of the Department for Combating Antisemitism, Yaakov Haguel says:
"The anti-Semitic violence against Jewish children in central London only illustrates the need and strengthens the determination to fight the persistent struggle against rising anti-Semitism in Europe, whose manifestations are horrifying, and we will continue the just struggle against those boycotts aimed at harming the Jews as a whole."
He added that "in light of these many events, the need for a new boycott and sanctions – anti-Semitism"conference, to be held next month in collaboration with the Zionist Federation of Britain is very clear, and marks the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration in central London, where participants will be exposed to the difficult reality facing Jewish communities in Europe and the UK".
